To reach the front gate of the cave, visitors must climb up the 759 stairs on the hill. Quite tiring effort which will be paid by the beutiful views upon the hill, and of course it is a sign that the adventure is about to begin. Moreover if visitors come in the evening, views of the city on the north looks awesome with the decoration of sparkling lights.

The name Cerme was derived from the word Ceramah in Javanese which has the same meaning as "preach" in English from Walisongo (the nine guardians). History says that Cerme Cave was once used by the Walisongo to spread Islam in Java lands. In addition, the cave also used to discuss plans for the establishment of the Demak Great Mosque. Every Monday or Tuesday Wage in Javanese Calendar, there is always a ceremony to ask for blessings or thanksgiving to God.
